Many of the UConn Libraries' licensed journal research databases
allow search results to be exported directly to RefWorks. In addition to
the full bibliographic data, you can export the abstract, keywords, and
other information, without retyping.
AnthroSource
While searching the AnthroSource database, place a check mark next to items in the search results you wish to save.
When searching is completed, click on 'Send to Citation Mgr'.
From the Citation Manager for Format select 'RefWorks' and the click 'Download Article Citation Data'.
CAB Databases
While searching any CAB database, click the 'Star' icon next to
items in the search results you wish to save.
Click 'Marked Records' link (along the right side of the search results).
From the marked records screen click 'Export Marked Citations' from the panel on the right side of the screen.
Select 'Full Record' for the format and click 'Export to RefWorks'.
While searching in Everything at UConn - Summon Search, select
articles you wish to save by clicking 'Save this Item' icon for each item.
When searching is completed, click the Saved items folder (along the bottom of the screen)'.
Click 'RefWorks' from the saved items window.
A pop-up window is generated so if you references are not taken to directly to your RefWorks account, temporarily turn-off your pop-up blocker.
FirstSearch Databases
While searching any of the FirstSearch databases, place a check mark next to
terms in search results you wish to save and then click 'Marked Records'.
When searching is completed, click on 'Export'.
In the 'Direct Export Records' window select 'RefWorks' then click 'Export'.
Note for FirstSearch Users (including WorldCat)
While searching FirstSearch be sure to turn off the pop-up blocker. In the Internet Explorer menu bar click on Tools - Page info – Permissions, or, under Tools go to pop up blocker settings and add firstsearch.oclc.org. You may have to hold down the Control button while clicking 'Export'.
In Firefox click on Tools – Options – Content and add firstsearchoclc.org as an exception.
While searching FirstSearch database, place a check mark next to items in the search results you wish to save.
When searching is completed, click 'Export'.
An Export page will come up, choose the citation option you want and RefWorks.
Click 'Export'.
If it does not export, check you pop-up blocker. Try holding down the control key while clicking export
To customize Google Scholar to export references directly to RefWorks click on the 'Scholar Preferences' link next to the search box.
In the Bibliographic Manager section click 'Show links to import citations into' and select 'RefWorks' and click 'Save Preferences'.
Click on 'Import into RefWorks' from the Google Scholar results screen'.
HAPI (Hispanic American Periodicals Index) :
While searching the HAPI (Hispanic American Periodicals Index) database, place a check mark next to items in the search results you wish to save and then click 'Add to
Marked List'.
When searching is completed, click on 'View Marked List'.
From the Marked List window select 'Download Records'.
Once the Download the Marked List window appears click 'Export to RefWorks' link.

HOMER - Library Catalog
While searching HOMER - Library Catalog, mark items in the search results you wish to save.
When searching is completed, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click 'Selected all pages'.
Click 'Printer Friendly Version' and then select all the text displayed by pressing ctrl + A or right click and select 'select all'..
Copy the text selected by pressing ctrl + C or right click and select 'copy'.
In RefWorks click 'References' and then select 'Import'.
From the Import Filter/Data Source drop down menu select 'Endevor Voyager'.
From the Database drop down menu select 'University Connecticut'.
Click Import Data from the following Text and then paste your text by pressing ctrl + V or right click and select 'paste'
Click 'Import'.
ISI Web of Knowledge:
While searching ISI Web of Knowledge, select items in search results you wish to save and then click the plus/checkmark icon to 'Add the selected records to your Marked List'
Click on the 'Mark List' link near the top of the database screen.
From the marked records screen:
Step 1: select "All records in this list'.
Step 2: select the appropriate fields to include in the output.
Note: Direct export is not compatible with RefWorks
While searching OvidSP, place a check mark next
to items in search results
you wish to save.
When searching is completed, navigate to the 'Results Manager' and select 'Complete Reference' from the Fields menu along the left side of your results listing.
From the actions menu along the left side of the your results listing click 'Save'.
Select'Windows Style Linefeeds' or 'Macintosh Style Linefeeds' and click 'Continue'.
In RefWorks click 'References' and then select 'Import'.
From the Import Filter/Data Source drop down menu select 'NLM PubMed'.
From the Database drop down menu select 'PubMed'.
Select 'Import Data from the following Text File' and then browse to the file you saved from PubMed.
Click 'Import'.
SciFinder Scholar
From the search results page select the references you want to import.
Click Save As (located on the navigation bar).
Navigate to the local drive and directory where you want to save the file.
Select Tagged Format (*.txt) as the file type.
Click Save.
Log in to RefWorks.
Select References/Import from the toolbar.
Select CAS Scifinder as the data source and Multiple Databases as the database.
Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
Click Import.
Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

SciFinder Web
From the search results page select the references you want to import.
Click Export (from the top of the results list).
In the Export options, select either All Answers or Only Selected Answers.
Name your file.
Select Tagged Format (*.txt) as the file type.
Click Export.
Log in to RefWorks.
Select References/Import from the toolbar.
Select CAS Scifinder as the data source and CAPlus as the database.
Browse to find the text file you saved to your computer.
Click Import.
Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

SCOPUS
While searching SCOPUS, select items in search results you wish to save and click '+ Add to My List' (Note: recommended to complete this process for each page of results)
Click on the link to ‘My List’, which is located in the horizontal green bar at the top of the screen.
Check the box for All, then click the Export link. Use pull-down menus to set Export format: to RefWorks direct export and Output: to Abstract format.
Click 'Export' to add these items to your RefWorks database.
